Stardate:2407.01.30 (ISS Razorback - Readyroom - CO, Captain Paul Casely - 1330) Casely considered that for a moment. "Mr. Thlax, who would you trust to run the bridge in my absence if I took you wtih me? I think you'd best stay here. Who would you suggest as loyal and strong enough to go with me to the Nimitz?" asked Paul. (Reply Thlax) Paul nodded, "Monitor communications between ships and try get into the Nimitz instraship communications as well. If you can find officers who might be... simpathic... to my cause it will be helpful. Keep an ambiant weapons lock on the Nimitz's engines too. Don't raise weapons unless you have to as that will be noticed, but be ready just in case." (Reply Thlax) With that, Paul got up. "I'm heading to the transporter room now. Send whoever you feel is best to go with me to the transporter room. Lets find out what the old man wants." (Reply Thlax) (Posted by Jeff) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (ISS Wolverine - Transporter Room - CEO- LT. Comnder Herkimer 78-1352) Herk continued with hir meditation exercises as s/he waited for the transporter to send them over to the Nimitz. When Saleke spoke Herk listened with the very outskirts of hir mind, taking in the words but barely paying attention to them. "Be extremely observant on the Nimitz." He said. "Not only is Sash behaving strangely but Captain Caselys motivation is unclear at this time, both will bear watching." ~Really? I would never have thought of that.~ It wasn't that Herkimer didn't respect hir CO, it was just that s/he hated being instructed in the obvious. And s/he was feeling a little pissy anyway. "Watchful is my middle name," Herk said sarcastically. As the captain ordereed the transport Herk closed hir eyes to enjoy sensation of the transporter effect. (ISS Nimitz-Transporter Room - CEO- LT. Comnder Herkimer 78-1354) When the sensation disipated Herk opened hir eyes. S/he always thought it funny that to the untrained eye, one transporter room appeared much the same as another. That was how most people became disoriented after a transport. However, Herk could sense the differentness of this room, and this ship. The hermat looked to see a small security detail, that had been sent to greet them. Hir body tensed in anticipation of an attack, but then relaxed when it didn't happen. S/he relaxed at the touch of hir captain. "Captain Saleke, I am Ensign Derak," the security officer said. "I've been sent to escort you to the Observation Lounge. We just need to wait for Captain Casely." Suddenly there was a rumbling noise, that sounded like a small avalanch. It turned out to be LT. Tagon. The huge Brikar looked down at his subordinate. "I'll take care of Captain Casely," he said. With that Derak turned to his charges. "Well, then, if you would follow me." He led the small entourage to the turbo lift. Herk took the oportunity to get the "scent" of the ship. It appeared to be well run, with the familiar odor of fear, but there was something else there too. A scent that s/he didn't catch to often in these times. It was very faint, but there none the less. This was a ship that something important was about to happen. The turbo lift brought them to eck one, and Derak led them through the corridor, to the observation lounge. As they entered, Sash and Wolfe, seemed to be the only ones there. Herk stepped back and remained by the door. Hir eyes scanned Sash. ~Nice. Very nice indeed. I can see what Kestra Troi saw in him.~ S/he licked hir lips, and then looked at the other man. This was Commander Wolfe? He was ... shorter than herk had expected. A man with his reputation were often a disappointment to behold in the flesh. Although Herks lips curled slightly, to show hir fangs as she contmplated seeing Wolfe, in the flesh. Now here was someone that could make hir "release" be very interesting. I just wanna make sure I'm the one doing it!~ Mendez thought with a humble grunt has he walked over to the wall and leaned over, waiting the the arrival of their captain. Things already started to play out in Mendez's mind. ~One of them jumpy types from the Nimitz starts acting real strange... maybe reaching for his phaser or something, and bam! There he is with a knife in his throat!~ Mendez smiled slighted and looked around the transporter room. He sat, leaning against the bulkhead, rubbing the scar on his forehead, waiting for Casely to arrive. (reply Casely, any) (Posted by Kevin Schram) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (ISS Razorback - Transporter room - CO - Captain Paul Casely - 1356) Paul fiddled with the strange pistol he had for a second more before attaching it to his belt. He saw the security detail standing there, two men. There was a 'latin' looking man he didn't recognize before. Casely took a long look at the man. "You must be Lotr'ols replacement. Lets hope you serve me better, although the structural integrity of the ship can always use reinforcement. What's your name?" said Paul with a wicked grin. He subconsciously stroked the scar running down his face. The reminder of his days with Sash. (Reply Mendez, if you dare) Paul regarded the room and stepped up on the transporter pad. "Alright, send us across. Keep tracking us." And then they dematerialized. (ISS Nimitz - Transporter Room - CO - Captain Paul Casely - 1400) Paul knew he was late and he couldn't care less, it really was intentional. Sash didn't outrank him and he'd be damned if he'd allow himself to be pushed around by the Angosian. Besides, if anything happened to Paul, the little secret got out. Paul grinned to himself thinking about that as he solidified on the other ship. He looked around, the ship still looked familiar, part of him missed it. Looking into the room, he saw that walking rock, Lieutenant Tagon waiting for him. He was never sure about Tagon. He knew that he didn't care much for his Captain, that he blamed Sash for not 'allowing' him to advance farther in the ranks. Surely on the Razorback Tagon would be at least 2O by this point. He regarded the walking rock. "Hello Lieutenant Tagon. How are you? I'd like you to meet my entourage, this is Lieutenant White, and this is Lieutenant... Mendez was it?" Paul stated glibly, still regarding the walking rock, "I brought this to show Sash, but I'm sure that you'd be interested too. Its a sonic pistol, the sonic waves can shake apart a mountain. Larger ones are easily constructable. Interesting, isn't it? We picked it up on a planet... well, it was a planet... we had to test it afterall. Anyway, I suppose Sash isn't getting any younger," Paul needed to come out and say nothing and he knew it. If Tagon was leaning to his side, he'd appreciate the show of strength, if not, he'd think twice before attacking. Either way, it was a win win. (Reply Mendez, Tagon) (Posted by Jeff) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (ISS Nimitz- Observation Lounge - SFI Officer - Lieutenant Commander Edward Wolfe - 1357) Edward tentatively entered the Observation Lounge and saw Captain Sash seated. He was still weighing his options. For now the Captain had taken him into his confidence, for now the best promise seemed to be with the seemingly unkillable Captain. In his research, Wolfe had found that Casely's attempt hadn't been the first time that someone had tried to kill Sash and failed. Comparing what the Captain was up against with what he had endured in the past, Wolfe's money had to be on the Captain. "Sir, Captain Saleke is on board. We're still waiting on Captain Casely. When we asked when he'd be over, his response was in the line of when he was good and ready. If is always this rude, I might have to kill him myself," said Wolfe with a wink. Wolfe then took a seat close to the Captain. (Reply Sash) "Your Engineering staff is... well... you might seek replacement for O'Neill. His attitude towards his work is somewhat lacking from what Mr. Lronen has told me. He seems to have different priorities than your own," stated Wolfe, "Perhaps some 'correction' is necessary as a first step." Be prepared to give full reports of your progress of the device.=/\= ~Here we go then,~ Harrison thought, ~Action at last~ He moved to his computer, spent five minutes typing up a quick report onto his PADD and made his way to the observation lounge. In truth, he wasn't sure what the counselling department had to report about the device, so he just summarised the crew's mood, morale, etc. (ISS Nimitz - Ready Room - COUNS - Commander John Harrison - 1407) He strolled into the ready room, greeting those who had already arrived and took the first available seat he could find, laying his PADD out on the table in front of him and eagerly awaiting the meeting. Mendez looked Casely straight in the eye, but then nodded to him. Casely came about and asked, "You must be Lotr'ols replacement. Lets hope you serve me better, although the structural integrity of the ship can always use reinforcement. What's your name?" "Lt. Paco Mendez, sir. I will do you better than that Klingon slime before me!" he said, almost shouting at the top of his lungs. (reply Casely, if you dare...er, if you want) Finally, Casely stepped onto the pad, Mendez and his counterpart followed suite. Finally, the dematerialized. (ISS Nimitz - Transporter Room - Security Guard - Lt. Francisco "Paco" Mendez - 1401) Finally, after a moment or so, they beamed aboard the Nimitz. Mendez looked around and scoffed at the ship's disgusting state. Finally, a Brikar which must of been over seven feet tall walked up to them. Mendez sized him up, and suddenly looked for a weak point. ~Heh, I'll just grab his knees and start slashing with my knife if he messes with me... or my boss!~ Mendez said with a sly smile. Mendez then looked down and checked his hidden knife in his boot, then he realized that part of the hilt was sticking out. Mendez cursed himself. ~Damn it!~ he thought about bending over and trying to hide it better with his pant leg, but that would draw attention to it. He decided to not look at it, if the Nimitz nutters saw it, then just more the challenge of fighting 'em! "Hello Lieutenant Tagon. How are you? I'd like you to meet my entourage, this is Lieutenant White, and this is Lieutenant... Mendez was it?", Casely says, introducing him to the Brikar. Mendez gave a sly smile and feigned politeness has he thought about the course of action and his eyes darted about the room and watched for any hostility from the crew of the Nimitz. I finish up that lame work they have me doing and what do I get for my reward? Do I get some well deserved off time? Do I get to amuse myself without interruption? No! I have to get dressed and go to some lame meeting!~ The Betazoid noticed the vicious CEO first upon entering since the shaggy beast automatically drew all eyes to him, everyone was well served to know where "It" was at all times and it wasn't like something that big could easily hide anyway. Sash and his bodyguard were there and some of the other members of the staff but it was the other groups that drew Holis' attention as he found a seat at the table, a Vulcan Captain with a Betazoid, Lt. Commander and some creature with feline ancestry? And another group as well with yet another Captain and his entourage. Holis shook his head in disbelief as he set the PADD with the relevant data on the table and leaned back; He recognized the Vulcan, he had been leaving the ship as Holis had arrived. It was the former CSO who had taken over for the one that had gotten killed and his name was Saleke. Holis' eyes narrowed as he considered what purpose had brought together such a disparate... and vicious group. A small smile grew on his lips as he opened his mind slightly to see if he could divine some of the swirling undercurrents and plots that must surely be roiling beneath the surface... that he hoped to take advantage of. There was ALWAYS profit from knowing such things. He was careful not to attract the attention of the Betazoid in Salekes party and he knew he wouldn' t get anything out of the Vulcan. (Reply: Any) (Posted by Charles) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (ISS Nimitz- Observation Lounge- CO- Captain Devan Sash - 1400) The door to the Lounge opened and Sash watched as Wolfe came to him. With a hand motion he stilled Cithy, who appeared to be getting ready to pounce on the SFI agent. As he watched he wondered if he had made a mistake in trusting so much to this man that he didn't know at all, in either universe. He had to rely on his own instincts, and he wasn't even sure how well they were working in this backwards world. Sash chuckled. He was starting to take a liking to this Edward Wolfe. "There'll be plenty of time for that, later. Just watch him. He's made it no secret how much he'd like this command. And perhaps, one day, he might get it. But not today, I think. So tell me about the progress in engineering." "Your Engineering staff is... well... you might seek replacement for O'Neill. His attitude towards his work is somewhat lacking from what Mr. Lronen has told me. He seems to have different priorities than your own," stated Wolfe, "Perhaps some 'correction' is necessary as a first step." "I'll speak to Zzt about him," Sash said with an evil smile. "Perhaps he'll invite O'Neill for lunch." A moment later, Zzt arrived. He took a seat in the corner of the room and glared at everyone. Sash thought that he might have a moment to talk to the Gerratlian about his staff, but that proved to be not quite the fact, for the door opened and Harrison entered. Sash was fairly certain that Harrison was going to have to die before this mission was over, but the man was still the counselor on this ship, and in so being, became his personal spy. ~And where the hell is Gralen?~ "Gentlemen," Sash began, "before the other captains arrive I want to tell you that they are here to get me to lead them to a battle with Doenitz, and his cohorts. I still believe that this mission to the alternate universe is our road to salvation. With this ability, we will be able to win this war and perhaps a little bit more. I guarantee, that if what I have planned works, then there may be promotions to be had for all. It all hinges on the interdimensional energy transmitter working propperly, and soon." With that the door opened once again and Captain Saleke entered with his small entourage. Sash nodded to the Vulcan. He recognized Jennah Winters, but not the creature with them. it looked like a Hermat. "Welcome to the Nimitz," Sash said, "sit. We need to wait for Mr. ... I mean Captain Casely." (reply Saleke, anyone else there) (posted by Al Muir) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (ISS Nimitz - Transporter Room 1- SC/TAC- Lt. Dru Tagon - 1401) When Casely stepped off the transporter padd he began to introduce his entourage. Tagon barely acknowledged their presence. He could tell that they weren't worth it. And that Mendez character had a little smirk that he would like to permanently remove with his bare hands. But this was not the time. What Casely said next, though, was definitely of interest. "I brought this to show Sash, but I'm sure that you'd be interested too. Its a sonic pistol, the sonic waves can shake apart a mountain. Larger ones are easily constructable. Interesting, isn't it? We picked it up on a planet... well, it was a planet... we had to test it afterall. Anyway, I suppose Sash isn't getting any younger." The demonstration wasn't lost in the Brikar. He's seen weapons of that sort before. They'd been used on him once, and he nearly lost his life. However, as the saying goes, you should of seen the other guy. Tagon shrugged his shoulders. "Last time I saw something like that, they were trying to remove the users fingers from the mangled metal alloy. However, I'm certain that a demonstration is not in order here. Follow me." He turned and boomed down the corridor, crew throwing themselves out of his way lest he crush them under foot. As they walked he began to speak to Casely. "As you can see," he said, "little has changed since you were here last. Very little." Tagon knew that further explaination was not needed. When Casely had been on the Nimitz before Tagon had found himself in the unfortunate position of being grateful to the human. In Brikarian code, that meant that his life was Casely's and so was his alleigance. The fact that he remained on the Nimitz after Sash had him removed from the ship was due to Casely's last words. "Stay and prepare." And so he did. They arrived at the turbolift and entered. When the doors closed he looked directly at Casely. "I must warn you Captain, Sash is up to something. Something very big. I am not convince that a coup at this moment would be beneficial. I am still not certain why the captain let you live before, but as I see it, you are in his debt." (reply Casely) The turbo lift doors opened before anything else could be said. Tagon led them to the Observation lounge and stepped aside, to allow them to enter. (reply Casely, Mendez, White, Sash) (posted by Al Muir) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (ISS Nimitz- Observation Lounge- CO- Captain Devan Sash - 1405) Sash was starting to get a little irritated with Casely. The sheer lack of respect for keeping them all waiting. He took in a breath and calmed himself. this was most likely, exactly what he wanted. He had to stay focused and keep the information that he'd managed to absorb over the past couple of hours to work. Sash's plan was ingenious. And if it worked the way he'd laid it out, he could wind up in a position of power, very soon. Finally the door opened and Tagon entered, followed by Casely and two others. Sash nodded to his former FO, and motioned him to sit across from him at the table. (reply Casely) "Welcome," Sash said, now calm again, "I'm sure you know Captain Saleke. After all, you've been in comunications with him since you've entered the system so we won't bother with the uusual pleasantries." (reply Casely, Saleke) "Gentlemen, I'm sure that you are here to remind me of our mission to attack Captain Doenitz and his hoard. Tha mission is still in the works and if you wish to continue planning our course of attack after this meeting you are more than welcome to do so. However, I have come across a , let's call it a situation, in which that battle may be an unnecessary loss of life and supllies by means of another approach." He looked at the two captain's and their companions. "What I'm about to tell you is going to make a big disrption in our way of thinking. If there is anyone in the room that you do not trust completely, now is the time to send them out. Otherwise, I will have to kill them." There were`nt any scheduled operations taking place in this area either now, or for the foreseeable future, it was strange indeed. This had obviously sparked the security officers concerns.... Poking her head into the accessway with it`s almost imperceptible electro static hum now evident in her ears however, revealed nothing more than the fact that someone had apparently either left the panel off, which was highly unlikely, or there had been an unscheduled service assignment in the area. The fact that tube forty eight led directly to the warp plasma conduits via the EPS processor nodes however made this a distinctly unplausable possibility, for all high security maintenence tasks were always cleared through security beforehand. This was a given fact.... Tallis thought for a few moments on this & then she tapped at her combadge. "Luxulyan to Tagon" (Reply Tagon) "I have an unauthorised opened access panel on deck sixteen, junction forty eight", said the security officer. "According to the logs, nothing is scheduled here, how do you want me to proceed?", said Tallis as she looked up & down the coridoor in which she stood whilst waiting for the TAC/SC`s responce. (Reply Tagon) "I don`t know, something just doesn`t seem right", said Tallis. "Perhaps we should run a diagnostic on essential systems, I want to rule out the possibility that someone might have accessed this tube for anything other than routine maintenence", she added. He couldn't believe what he was looking at. Least of all, he couldn't believe the readings from the medical scanners. And there didn't seem to be a damn thing he could do to stop it. Captain Devan Sash was dying. "Get out of my way people," he yelled, pushing Lemar and the nurses out of the way, aswell as the people who had brought the captain in. Apparently, he had just collapsed, for no reason. There was no sign of poison or an other form of telepathic attack. It just seemed like his brain was shutting down, and with it, all of his life systems. "Damn it," he said to himself, and place the neural calipers on the back of the Angosian's neck. There was a high pitched tone noting that Sash's heart had stopped beating. "Shock him." The captain's body arched as the millijouls of energy coursed through his body. Then the whine ceased and was replaced by the normal sinus rhythm of a heart beat. Kinkaid went back to the biio readings, showing no change. he was lost. There was absolutely no clue as to what was happening to his CO, his friend, and there was nothing he could do to stop it. His mind began to race. "Alright, alright," he said more to himself, "I can't fix it, but maybe I can stop it from getting worse." His fingers began to fly over the controls of the trauma bed and a blue stasis field glowed over the captain. He turned to Hyland who had just entered the room, and shook his head. Before the FO could speak, he began to talk. "Before you ask, I can't tell you anything you don't already know," Kinkaid said. "He's dying, and I can't stop it. I can't even tell you why. It's as if his brain has just decided to stop working. Like he's being killed from the inside out. I've put him in a stasis field for right now, but that's just a pebble damn in the Rio Grande. A rational, reasonable part of Dartena tried to tear through the grief and blind rage she was feeling, telling her that the doctor had assuredly done his best and that things would work out. Dartena savagely pushed the thoughts away, her blue skin darkening considerably. At the best of times, Dartena was a force to be reckoned with... these were not the best of times. A tear coalesced in the corner of her eye and ran down her cheek. There was no sobbing, no wailing, only demanding. "Doctor! What happened to him? How did he get like this?" she said fairly loudly, moving protectively beside him. (Reply Kinkaid) "Well, fix it! There has to be something that can be done! You can't let him die!" Dartena said slumping slightly. Her initial rage and protective nature evapourating and giving way to reason, she began to shudder slightly. (Reply Kinkaid) Dartena sat in a chair beside the biobed. "Commander, I'm afraid I won't be at my duty shift tonight," Dartena said, her tone was even but her eyes glared in a way that said just try to do something about it. He leaned forward and began inputting controls into the shuttle's controls, and the nimble little craft dropped out of warp and he saw, sitting in the distance, the Sovereign-class vessel, and his new station, the USS Nimitz. Until he could figure out just what the hell was causing this he really had the rest of Sash's life on his hands. With a heavy sigh he looked into the face of the Bolian woman. He had to fight back his own feelings, how was he supposed to fight back hers aswell. "Doctor! What happened to him? How did he get like this?" Kinkaid went over to her and put an arm around her shoulder but she shrugged him off. The look in her eyes was enough to tell him she didn't want his comfort. She was a tough cookie alright. "I don't know," he admitted. "I was told that he'd been going over reports on the bridge when he suddenly collapsed. All I can tell you is that his brain is shutting down his body functions." "Well, fix it! There has to be something that can be done! You can't let him die!" Dartena shouted. The big Texan wanted to shout back at her, but he fought to remain in control. "I can't. I don't even know what's causing it. Physically, there's nothin' wrong with him. What ever it is, it's got to happening in his brain, in his mind. That gives me an idea." He turned from Bixx and went back to the table. He made adjustments to the bio scanner and the holographic image of Sash's body changed. There appeared an image of Sash's brain. He began to scan for different levels of brain functions. The answer had to be there, it was just going to take time. The question was, did they have it?
